The two-room holiday apartment is located in a detached wooden house typical of the region from the 19th century. The location of the house on the south-facing slope below a forest is quiet with a view of the valley and the mountains. There is a terrace on the east side (morning sun until midday) and on the west side (afternoon sun until evening), each with a garden table and chairs, and on the west side a small lawn with a deck chair. The apartment is heated with wood. In the living room there is a stove made of tiles and sandstone. In the village there is a Coop store with a post office and a restaurant. There are further shopping opportunities in Schwarzenburg or Riggisberg, which are both just under 10 km away. The nearest post bus stop is in the village, about 10 minutes on foot, with connections to Schwarzenburg and Riggisberg. Nevertheless, a car is recommended for exploring the surrounding area (Gantrisch Nature Park, Bernese Oberland and French-speaking Switzerland). The apartment is ideal as a contrast to city life. A dense network of hiking trails connects to the Gantrisch Nature Park, among others, and in summer there is a swimming pool nearby (Eywald). The small but nice apartment shows that Switzerland can be affordable. For guests in the winter months: In addition to the wood heating, there is a 500 watt infrared flat heater in the bedroom and a portable 900 watt heater in the living room. Both have a thermostat with actual and adjustable target temperatures. These can also be booked in the summer months for an additional charge. The Rüschegg-Eywald ski lift is very close by (just under 4 km). A little further away there are numerous ski lifts such as Selital, Ottenleue and Gantrisch/Gurnigel. These ski lifts are no longer guaranteed to have snow since climate change. The nearest ski areas with guaranteed snow are in the Bernese Oberland, e.g. about an hour (Lauterbrunnen) or 1 1/4 hours (Grindelwald) away by car. Alternative programs are offered by the three cities of Bern, Thun and Fribourg, all of which are just under 30 km away. Although the access road is cleared of snow every day, it can sometimes be accessed only by 4WD vehicles or with chains (increasingly rare due to global warming). In such a case there is a free P&R car park down in the village. Note: No corporate bookings / workers.
